Richard L. Alvidrez

Mr. Alvidrez attended the University of Texas ‑ El Paso and received his bachelor’s degree from Texas A & M ‑ Commerce in 1980.  He received his J.D. from Southern Methodist University in 1983.  He has been licensed to practice law in New Mexico since 1983.  Mr. Alvidrez has over twenty years of experience in environmental law, including matters relating to air quality, surface and ground water quality, petroleum storage tanks, hazardous waste, toxic substances, NEPA, Superfund and historic and cultural property matters.  He has defended businesses in environmental enforcement proceedings before both state and federal administrative agencies and in state and federal courts.  He advises clients on a variety of environmental regulatory and compliance issues and has appeared before state regulatory agencies in permitting and rule‑making proceedings.  His experience also extends to representing clients in major toxic tort litigation. He is a Director in the Albuquerque office.

 Mr. Alvidrez also advises clients on environmental matters involving real estate and other general business transactions.  He prepares environmental policies and procedures for businesses and banking institutions.  He also has experience representing clients in matters involving commercial, personal injury and employment litigation. 

 Mr. Alvidrez is active in professional organizations including the Sections on Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law of the New Mexico and American Bar Associations.  He was appointed by the New Mexico Supreme Court to the Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission.  He is a former member of the New Mexico Board of Bar Commissioners.  

Mr. Alvidrez is also very active in community and civic organization having served as Chairman of the Board of the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce.  He also serves or has served on the boards of directors of the Association of Commerce and Industry, Quality New Mexico and Albuquerque Museum Foundation and as an Honorary Commander of the Kirtland Air Force Base.
