Healthcare Contracting

Dan started his career in health law by advising physicians, hospitals, and medical groups in matters involving healthcare contracting. He now has over a decade of experience in this practice area and has drafted, reviewed, and negotiated hundreds of healthcare contracts. The types of contracts include employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, recruitment agreements, shareholder agreements, professional service agreements, call agreements, joint venture agreements, separation agreements, and operating agreements and bylaws for healthcare entities.

Dan gives presentations to medical residents and fellows regarding the ins-and-outs of reviewing and negotiating a physician’s first employment contract. As a former high school teacher and current adjunct professor at the University of New Mexico School of Law, Dan strives to make education a critical component of his legal practice. And when it comes to physician contract review and negotiation, education is the starting point. Having a strong understanding of the provisions in a healthcare contract can mitigate risk exposure and reduce the likelihood of litigation or administrative prosecution by medical boards.
